Spring is coming: Preparing the Balcony
Yep, spring is definitely here. More light, more warmth. And it is the time to go out into the great wild, my balcony. I have already started the preparations for the balcony season by cleaning up the Christmas tree needles, accumulated cardboard boxes from all my online shopping and upgraded the cushions of my balcony chairs. What an exciting project!! I even bought a solar lamp that can give me light during the dim hours of the day…oh, wait. I think that was a silly purchase since the next time there is pitch dark during the night, it’s in September. Krhm. Onwards!
So, my idea is to upgrade the carpet that we have on the balcony because walking on concrete is not very comfortable, and the current one has some years to it already (and I accidentally melted it with a baking plate during the winter).
I have to also think about what kinds of herbs I want to try to grow on the balcony this summer. Last year I was unable to keep many herbs alive because the sun shines over 8 hours directly to our balcony, and it becomes very hot. I also forget t water the plants. The plants that survivied were chives and bay leaves. I am also considering fake plants. They will look great, will not wither and most importantly, have no maintenance, unless you have to dust them off.
