I don’t know what got into me, but I totally fell in love with cupcakes. Or rather, how festive, cute and beautiful and delicious they look! They are the perfect material for someone who want’s to practice photographing. Since I have a new “toy”, the tripod, I had to do a photoshoot. Just to test the equipment of course.
I guess all this cupcake stuff started when I went to a party store Confetti to look for simple cake decorations. I was totally overwhelmed by the amount of wonderful, beautiful, amazing and delicious decorations. So I bought a few things, and this Easter Cupcake set that included the muffin paper forms and bunny themed decorations.
And since it was Easter theme, I had to make something with carrots. So I decided to make carrot cake easter cupcakes! It took me a while to find a suitable cupcake recipe for my purpose, but as usual, BBC food did not fail me. I did modify the recipe a bit, reducing the amount of oil (to 100 ml), decreasing the amount of flour by 50g so that I could add ground hazelnut into it, and used a bit less sugar than recipe called for. When I made the frosting, I had a lot left over, so needed to freeze the rest. I hope it freezes ok 😀 …
I had some issues with lighting as the day was a bit grey, but at least I got to fully test out the tripod and have some creative fun with the styling.
Here are my favourite Easter cupcake shots:
